Details:

A pilot holding a Tandem Licence with 3-5 years of experience whist flying at Shek O at approximately 12-1400hrs on Wednesday 22nd of February 2017.

The conditions at the time were reported to be Smooth with a E wind blowing approximately 10-15kph. The temperature was 15-19deg C with A Little Cloud and Slight Haze Visibility.

There were reported to be 6-10 pilots at the site.

Event Description:

Pilot landed on Shek O bathing beach as there was a bonfire alight in the designated landing zone.

The EC notes there have been a number of obstacles present in the designated LZ over the last few months including boats, a wedding marquee, and a bonfire. This is of significant concern as Shek O has become a sensitive site given previous main beach landings.
