A pilot holding a Solo Novice (PG2) Licence with 0 years of experience whist flying at Ma On Shan at approximately 12-1400hrs on Wednesday 25th of October 2017.

The conditions at the time were reported to be Smooth with a E wind blowing approximately 10-15kph. The temperature was 20-24deg C with Nil Cloud and Unlimited Visibility.

There were reported to be 2-5 pilots at the site.

Event Description:

The injured pilot holding USHPA P2 license no longer than 1 year. The pilot hold the brake deep during the final glide thus landed with high sink rate and crash on the rock with his back. The pilot is fully conscious and reported severe back pain and immobilized. GFS and fire service arrived at 1230 and sent the injured pilot to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital for further management. It is reported pilot suffered from muscle strains after consulted doctor.

The EC wishes the pilot a speedy recovery. Take the time to plan a safe top-land or depart the hill and land at the LZ. Airspeed is always our friend. Landing should always keep your speed up and never fly with heavy brakes.
