A pilot holding a Beginner Licence with 0 years of experience whist flying at Lantau at approximately 15-1700hrs on Wednesday 3rd of June 2015.

The conditions at the time were reported to be Smooth with a SW wind blowing approximately 10-15kph. The temperature was 30-34deg C with A Little Cloud and Unlimited Visibility.

There were reported to be 6-10 pilots at the site.

Event Description:



About two o'clock in the afternoon today 03-06-2015, Lantau Island, sunny, southwest wind blowing, the wind speed of about 15-18 km, there is a P1 pilot about five meters at the bottom left of the field took off, because then southwest wind blowing, he fly against the wind from the east to the west, the lack of lift and fly too close to the hillside, he can not be left the ridge, was forced to slow landing the grass, hit the grass stones, right leg fractures, no life-threatening awake by the Flight Service team to the hospital.

The wind was quite cross at the site, Insturctors should ensure students are briefed adequately to only fly in the "safe area" of the site for the conditions.

Students should be instructed in accident prevention technique ( fly away from the hill if a landing looks unlikely ) and land somewhere safe rather than forcing a bad situation

Students should be instructed in injury minimizing ( PLF = bent legs on impact ***CLICK***)
